Simpson Associates was started in the fall of 1984, in Mississauga, * Ontario, Canada, as a consulting firm specializing in retained executive search. The primary client focus was small to medium-sized, privately held companies that encompassed a diverse industry group.
Early into the practice, psychometric assessment capability was introduced into the firm. It was obvious, even back in the early 1980's, that client companies were working hard to improve their businesses. It was with this in mind that Simpson Associates introduced an assessment capability to its search process - a clear way to improve the search business. This approach was so popular with customers that, very shortly, clients were asking for assessment services to be unbundled and become a stand-alone service.
The practice thrived providing both search and assessment. However, after twenty years and much soul searching, it was decided that Simpson Associates would become a single focus consulting group and concentrate on assessment alone.
The decision to focus exclusively on psychometric assessment was a big change for the firm. Never the less, the business continued on its path of change in the summer of 2006, when it was decided to move the company to Vancouver, BC, after more than 20 years in Mississauga.

The decision was a good one for the organization. Two years into the re-location as of July 2008, the company continues to grow. And just as importantly, as the company starts its 25th year in business, there is some pride that many of the customers that were with the firm in its infancy, all those years ago, are still customers today!
As the company goes forward, there are even more changes in store for the company. Simpson Associates plans to continue to focus strictly on assessment. But in addition to providing assessment services for customers, it is also moving towards providing those services for companies in which it has taken an ownership position. To that end, Simpson Associates has invested in a number of companies throughout the past year. And as we go into the future, we will be keeping with this strategy by continuing to look for interesting new business investments.
Regardless of all the changes, we are working hard to ensure that one thing will not change. That is our dedication to the same mandate which was set so many years ago - “Getting It Done Right.”
