Robert & Rosalyn Nideffer Charitable Fund

My initial introduction to Robert and Ros Nideffer was, indirectly, through The Attentional and Interpersonal Style (TAIS) Inventory, about thirty seven years ago — in the late seventies. After having spent a number of years in consulting engineering, I transitioned into management search and began using TAIS in my recruiting practice. TAIS helped solve a very real gap in the search business — it was quite apparent that client companies were working diligently, every day, to improve their products and services and it became clear that the recruiting business needed to do the same — find ways to add significant and meaningful value to its customers. And so TAIS became an integral and vital part of my practice. And it remains so to this day.

My first strong memory of meeting Bob and Ros Nideffer was not until about 25 years ago — at their home in Escondido, California. I remember vividly Ros making short work out of a couple of would-be players on the tennis court. She was taking them both on by herself — two on one. And she, rather effortlessly, I might add, “cleaned their clocks,” as it were. Of course, being a world-class tennis pro, having won the Grand Slam Tennis titles at the 1981 and 1983 French Open might have had something to do with those chaps on her tennis court not standing a chance — despite their best efforts. Bob was in the background, both as her coach and husband, looking after the guests!

Since then, I have come to know both these fine people and am most fortunate to be able to call them friends. Speaking on a technical business level, Bob Nideffer has done more for my career than any other person on the planet. And Ros, has graciously tolerated me countless times in her home, patiently explaining about her very large collection of tennis trophies she keeps in a display cabinet in the living room.

Frankly, I cannot think of two people who have been more generous with their time, on multiple levels, than Bob and Rosalyn Nideffer. And while I know a heart-felt “thank you” would suffice for these two very near and dear people, I thought it appropriate to go a little further and do something to recognize their contributions to me and, more importantly, their collective contributions to the world we live in.

Accordingly, I am pleased to announce that the Simpson Group has started a charity in their names — the Robert & Rosalyn Nideffer Charitable Fund — which is specifically focused in two areas — human trafficking and wildlife. We have made an initial financial commitment of $15,000 USD; however, the Simpson Group will continue to donate a percentage of its annual profits in order to sustain the Fund on a long term basis.

And while it may well go without saying, Ros, Bob, please accept my thanks for all that you have done. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed — by both myself and many others.
